Random Ramblings: Hairstyles and Champagne

Ok, I don't like posting photos of myself, but after blogging about my upcoming haircut, I went ahead and took a photo, since some of you requested an "after" pic. What do you think?

Yeah, it's pretty much the same style I wore last summer. But, hey, if it works, go with it. Thanks, again, Gwyneth.

By the way, I just had to share a funny food/drink tip that I learned about last Friday. As I mentioned, we gathered with friends at a restaurant in Old Louisville for a special “Big Game” dinner. The dinner featured venison, elk, wild boar, quail and pheasant, among other game foods. For dessert, we had a scrumptious bread pudding, which I LOVE. It was definitely an evening for the carnivores and it was oh-so-delicious. And, yes, I hit the treadmill the next morning.

Anyhoo, during the dinner, we learned from the wine connoisseurs among us, as well as the chef, what food goes best with champagne. And guess what they recommended? KFC. That’s right, Kentucky Fried Chicken original recipe. Apparently, something about those special herbs and spices really works well with the champagne. They were dead serious. One of the couples swore up and down how awesome it is to pair these items together. Hmmm. Hey, there’s an idea for Valentine’s Day…a romantic evening in front of the fire with a bottle of Dom and a bucket of chicken. Now, that’s classy.

Can't wait for the weekend to get here. Hope everyone is staying warm and well. Hubby is taking our daughter to the doctor this morning. She went back to school yesterday, but then the fever returned last night, along with a horrible cough. Ugh, I'm done with this time of year. Puxatony Phil, I'm holding you to your prediction of an early spring!

Love the haircut, looks just like Gwyneth's! I'm cracking up over the champagne/KFC pairing - nothing says romance like a bucket of the Colonel's secret recipe!

Your hair looks great. I had heard a different but also odd champagne pairing suggestion: potato chips.

That haircut really suits you! It looks so cute.

Fried chicken and champagne? Like Sara said, that just screams romance!

Now I'm intrigued as to what restaurant you went to!

Love the new hairstyle...

I am very skeptical about KFC and champagne....I think I'll stick with Dungeness Crab instead!

Your poor baby, is there anything more heart breaking than a sick child? Like the hair. Glad you enjoyed the game dinner, wasn't it Maire Antoinette who said"let 'em eat KFC"?

Thanks for all of the great comments, everyone! Danielle, the restaurant is 610 Magnolia. They have a separate event space called The Wine Studio, where they host special event dinners, cooking classes, etc. Edward Lee is the chef.

Look at you cutie patootie! OK...you have to go back to my post today b/c after your comment, you had me intrigued about Le Chameaus vs Hunter and I linked to a great article about it (and you).

Champagne & KFC. As Ina would say...How Bad Could That Be?!

Yes, agree with everyone, I like the hair. It's tailored with just enough attitude.

Love the cut. I adored Gwyneth's hair in that movie. I would copy you in a second, but I think my face is too round! Hope your daughter is feeling better too - same virus going around at Andrew's school. Seems to last a week to 10 days. Ugh! Fried chicken and champagne... hmmmm.... I can see how that would work - both are a wonderful picnic foods.. even if our picnic drinks usually consist of Capri Suns!

I love that haircut and I often get that same cut. I remember taking that same picture to my hairdresser when I first had it done! It really suits you!! I am like you and don't like posting pictures of myself but you really should post more-you are gorgeous!

Thanks so much for your sweet comments over the last few weeks. I am really sorry I haven't been by for a while but, well, you know the story! Anyway, the kids are back at school, the tiler has nearly finished tiling our downstairs family rooms and bedrooms and life is nearly back to normal again so I will be visiting more regularly again!

Best wishes to you and your family and I hope that your daughter is feeling better soon. I would send you some Aussie sunshine if I could but all we seem to be getting here lately is rain, rain and more rain!

Natasha.

Chanpagne and KFC? Well if that's what the experts are saying, who are we to disagree. KFC (and a little bubbly) is on the menu for tomorrow night!
