If you received the latest issue of Southern Living, you likely saw the article about top lake vacation spots across the South. Lake Ruban in Georgia is one of them, and it looks like a fun place, especially during the 4th of July weekend.
According to the article, Lake Ruban residents have a long tradition of showcasing their vintage wooden Chris Craft boats, especially on Independence Day. The boats fly the red, white and blue, while houses and boat docks are decked out in Americana finery. I would love to see such a site - I bet it makes for a fun celebration of the 4th.
What will you be doing to celebrate Independence Day? Soaking in the sun by the water with family and friends? A parade waving your flag and an evening with fireworks? Whatever it is, I hope you have a wonderful time, sporting your red, white and blue!

A boating we will go...
Actually, we usually have zilch plans over this holiday except to watch fireworks but this year we have lots going on. But mostly, fireworks, swimming, eating, movies, dinner plans, etc. We even had to turn down an invite for grillings and letting the kids run in the sprinkler. SO looking forward to it! HAPPY 4th to you!!!!
p.s. I prefer the beach over the lake but if it meant I could have a cute wooden boat, I'd take the lake. :)
p.s.s. I looked on Showtime for the movie you mentioned...I'm keeping an eye out for it so I can record it.
Chris Craft boats are SO beautiful...I would love to go there for the 4th! xx
It's a GREAT lake - if you ever get the chance to go, GO! I've never been there for the 4th, but it sounds awesome! You can't beat a wooden boat!
i would love to be there!

Our 4th...all kids away ay Camp...so the Wife and I up to no good at varu=ious venues around the Main Line...cheers!
Looks like a wonderful spot to be on the 4th. We'll be celebrating Canada Day , here on the 1st .. but next year our friends, who now live in NYC and Vermont will be hosting a 4th of July celebration at their Vermont home and I can't wait to be part of the festivities. Americans, really do know how to celebrate and enjoy their country's Independence Day!! xo HHL
I read the article while on the beach today. It reminded me a lot of our lake in MI. We had a boat parade every year with everything and everyone decked out in red, white and blue. This year we'll be celebrating at the beach club and cookout at home with friends.
