No More Road Trips (For Now, At Least)

Clickety clack, clickety clack, I'm back.

Sigh.

So very hard to return to the real world after being on vacation. The Outer Banks were wonderful, as usual. Relaxing, lazy, sun-filled days. How I want to return. Although, I really missed flying this time. We did a road trip this year to save money, since the kids now require full-price plane tickets. We opted to drive and split the trip up into two days, spending the night in Lexington, Va. While I like stopping in Lexington - home to VMI and Washington & Lee - I am sooo not a fan of road trips. The kids had a few meltdowns along the way and it about sent me over the edge. I don't take stress very well, can't you tell? I know, I should go with the flow. But, that's just hard for me sometimes. Oh, well. I had plenty of days at the beach to make up for it.

So, on my last day of vacay, I'm at home getting ready for the week ahead. Going to try to squeeze as much out of the precious few hours I have left. Perhaps hit the library and the pool with the kids, then prep for tomorrow's activities: work, camp, daycare.

In the meantime, I need to catch up on all of your wonderful blogs, my friends. Happy Monday - hope you are well!

I love a good road-trip meltdown... especially when it's me.

Oh, how I love the sound of your clickety clack. I missed you in blog world this past week!

Your story immediately brought me back to a roadtrip we made two summers ago. Sadly, it was ME who had the meltdown. It was hot as the dickens, we were starving, Stella was needing to be fed, but we were holding out for this 1 town known for it's BBQ. We finally arrived only for me to realize that I had lost my debit card. In the blazing sun, I ripped through our packed car, hoping it had just fallen out. In the end, it was found...at the Dairy Queen drive-thru window 4 hours back at the beach. Annoying and humiliating! Roadtrips are probably best in theory...and in the spring or fall.

Glad you're back! xo

Glad you had a great trip! Yes, it is hard to come back. I have mixed feelings about going places now.
I am not a fan of road trips either. We stop at the first road stop to get coffee!

Welcome back! Yes, a vacation includes so much... both wonderful moments and meltdowns...
We only have one more week of work!

The transition after vacation is always tough! Did you stop at Pumpkinseeds while you were in Lexington? It's the cutest little boutique!

You guys are so sweet! I think I will pack headphones and more Benedryl (for me and the kids) for our next road trip.

S&S, I did see Pumpkinseeds when we were in Lexington, but it was already closed by the time we made it town for dinner. But, I'll be returning there for a reunion in July, so hopefully I can visit it then!
