Summertime in the Neighborhood

Summer is here and we celebrated last evening with our neighborhood's annual block party. Fried chicken, cole slaw, fruit salad and many other goodies were served as kids frolicked and adults chatted. The kids' entertainment for the evening was The Bubble Truck.

There's my son in the plaid shorts, in the thick of things. The Bubble Truck emits bubbles from the entire vehicle and then Mr. Bubble Truck also brings out large buckets so the kids can dip giant bubble makers into the soapy solution. This kept the kids entertained FOREVER! So much better than inflatable jumpies, I think. And, Mr. Bubble Truck also makes balloon animals, which added even more to the festivities. (Until Little Man's popped and he had a complete meltdown over it. Sigh.)

It was fun meeting many of our neighbors and celebrating the start of summer.

Does your neighborhood or town have a get-together in the summer months?

I am in LOVE with the Bubble Truck! What a fabulous idea! I can't get over the size of those bubbles, how fun! Sounds like a really nice community that lives in your neighborhood :) Happy Summer!! xoxo

Inflatable jump contrivances...I call them the "fat lip" machine as inevitably some kid comes out crying 'cause another kid smashed his head into the face of the other by accident...
Bubble truck...genius...
Hope there was a keg for the adults!

Main Line, yes, in addition to soft drinks, there was plenty of Stella Artois, Bud and other adult beverages. Good times. :)

What a wonderful invention! My birthday is on Saturday and I think I need one of those... Maybe the bubbles could be champagne bubbles!

I am so jealous! It's bitterly cold here - 13 degree C and rain. Brrr.

Thanks for a brilliant effort in posting your article. One one can be more informative like this. Many things I can to know only after reading your wonderful article.

Thanks! The reasoning behind the real words was to add an extra challenge of trying to come up with a proper sentence that's also a funky picture. If you fancy trying it, there are a few tricks to know about. The decoding is completely case insensitive and ignores all punctuation apart from exclamation marks. Each exclamation mark causes the previous word to be repeated (in a run length encoding type of way).
