This Week's The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

As this crazy week comes to a close, I'd like to reflect on what I've experienced, as well as what's been taking place in local and national news. It's been an interesting few days.

First of all, I have learned that not all flights of stairs can accomodate a queen-size box spring. This lead to an unexpected trip to the mattress store and purchase of split box springs, which will be delivered today. What's up with that?

The trial in which a woman tried to extort money from University of Louisville basketball (and former UK coach) Rick Pitino ended in downtown Louisville yesterday. She was found guilty on all six counts. It has been a sordid affair from the beginning (Pitino admitted to having had "relations" with the woman) and far too much information has been revealed in the last couple of weeks. It's gross, tired and I'm glad it's over.

Will some network executive please put a stake in the heart of ABC's "The View" and end that mindless show? I don't watch it, but I'm so tired of hearing about the antics of its manic hosts. Apparently Whoopi assaulted one of the Real Housewives? The one who crashed the White House? Blah, blah. Who cares?!

Sean Penn is criticizing Wyclef Jean's motives on running for president of Haiti. Penn can do this while sitting atop his high horse living in Haiti. Hey, Sean Penn: who are you to criticize ANYONE?? Just go back to making movies where you cry in pivotal scenes and shut up already.

And, so I don't sound like a complete raving lunatic, I would like to give props to one of the classier events that took place this week: Chelsea Clinton's wedding. No matter what your politics, whether you like her parents or not, the way she and her hubby handled their nuptials was very well done. No media circus, no selling of photos to People Magazine. Elegant and refined behavior all around. Keep the memories for yourselves, your family and your friends. So many people should learn from your elegant restraint. Cheers to you, Chelsea. :)

I'm so over that stupid Sypher trial, thankfully it is done but I'm sure it is not the last we have heard of it. I also agree on Chelsea Clinton's nuptials - looked like a stunning wedding and that dress was divine.

Agree with you on the View. Poor excuse for entertainment. Seems to be a lot of that lately.

Cool.....I like this strident and critical tone...a change for you...but spot on on each issue. Looks like the moving thing is getting to you....all the hassles and stress have exposed the dark side of your usually bubbly upbeat posts...give us more of the angry stuff....

Main Line, thanks for the laugh! Actually, in addition to my bubbly side, my darker side is known the make an appearance or two. I'm a hoot at cocktail parties. :) Although, I think you're right, the move has gotten to me a bit. Looking forward to taking it slower this weekend.

Loved seeing the choice photos the Clinton family released. It WAS a class act. (Personally, I liked Jenna Bush's wedding affair more... ;)

Rick Pitino was the coach at UK when my hubs did his residency there...it was a high time in his career and his reputation and success as a coach was untarnished....his reign of Kentucky basketball sure didn't end well...

I can't stand The View...Joy makes me want to gag....I would block it from my tv if I could....

(and I agree with bevy, loved Jenna's more)

In full agreement with you on the 'Royal' wedding - very tasteful & not a media circus, hooray! I did love the snippet about the bride insisting her Dad lost 15lbs. before the big day though. We have Rick Pitino equivalents Down Under, who get into just as much trouble - stupidity amongst sport jocks ignores cross country borders!

Bevy and Leelee, I'm with you on Jenna Bush's nuptials - much more my style. Her dress, her hair, everything was just beautiful.

This post really made me smile, because it shows what a perceptive and funny lady you are. Keep on ranting, my dear lunatic! ;)

Dear JMW,
thank you for that post! It shows (what Greta Garbo showed before): if you don't want media tumult you can have your privacy (to a certain extent at least) - and a lot of people who are complaining about paparazzi are actually feeding and needing them!

Thank you so much for stopping by!
I am so glad I'm not the only one who thinks that the View is over-the-line ridiculous. And Chelsea Clinton's wedding was just a complete class act (although I also agree with the previous comments about Jenna's--she was flawless).

I love that Pitino made your list! I so enjoyed hearing my husband give me little tidbits of gossip from the trial. He's so greasy and I'm so glad he's there and not at UK.
