I'm Dreaming of a Warm Climate...

The Lilly Resort Collection, the beach, a margarita and me. That would do it.

So, I keep getting these e-mails from Lilly Pulitzer, telling me about their latest releases and updates on their resort collection. It just feels like a constant reminder that I'm in a very cold place and I should be elsewhere. So, to deal with the cold, dark days of January, I'm starting to research locations for our summer beach vacation.

We've traveled to the Outer Banks for the last several years and love it. But, we're thinking of a change. We've heard good things about Wilmington, N.C. and the surrounding beaches: Kure, Cape Fear, Carolina, etc. Has anyone been there and would you recommend it? If so, any particular rental agency? Or, should we look at South Carolina, perhaps Folly or Sullivan's Island? We like laid-back, lazy areas, but also within driving distance of other activities.

Any input on the beaches in those areas (or others you may be fond of) would be much appreciated. These cold days just aren't cutting it. I think I was destined to live much closer to the equator! Meanwhile, Hubby is a snow guy. Go figure. Oh, well. Maybe some day I'll move further south. We'll see. :)

I LOVE Holden Beach, NC. But it is very quiet...it isn't too far from Wilmington or Myrtle Beach, but it would be a day trip.

hi- i live in Beaufort, SC and we have fabulous laid back beaches here. Our favorite is harbor island (we have a place there if you care for more info). Beaufort is a quaint little town with a lot of character and history. Also, we within one hour of Charleston and Savannah. Also we are in the same county as Hilton Head Island. good luck!!

I am a Sullivan's Island girl, and would never trade it. I hope, whatever you land on, it is marvelous. Happy new year! Catherine

My family has had a home at Pawley's Island for generations. So that's where I grew up in the summer. LOVE IT!!! And I was blessed to marry a man with a home at Edisto. Take your pick! They are both wonderful...

I'm a Nantucket girl myself, so can't help with any Southern locations. Good luck finding just the right spot, and I can't wait to hear what you end up picking!

How about Sea Island, GA or the Gasparilla Inn in Boca Grande, FL for a taste of old school Florida chic?

Wilmington is lovely- did that after finishing business school. But you have lots of great options! For some reason, I'd be inclined to try South Carolina but I have no real knowledge!
(and I get the Lilly emails too and they're killing me!)
