Dearest blogger friends, I am seeking your input on a birthday gift for hubby. His birthday is in June and I would love to give him a super-cool gift.
What do you think about the Big Green Egg?
Hubby has mentioned this type of smoker/grill a few times. Then, when our neighbor got one, I could see the look of green-egg-envy in his eyes as he gazed across the fence. So, I started to do some research. Holy cow – those things aren't cheap! But, I shouldn’t get too worked up. When you look at what some grills can set you back, and considering what this thing can do, that should be a reasonable price, right? We’ll just have to cook on it every single day of the summer into the fall to make it worth it, that’s all. ;)
So, anyone out there own the Green Egg or have experience with it? Is it worth the purchase?
And, speaking of outdoor cooking and dining, I saw this cocktail recipe on Julia Reed’s e-mag Fetch. It’s called a Rosemary’s Baby. Sounds devilishly good.
And, a batch of Rosemary’s Babies served up in these glasses from Corzine & Co., would look fabulous during your next barbecue.
Bring on the warm weather, good food and porch parties!
Since I'll be spending time enjoying the great outdoors for the next few days - albeit in my backyard, but nonetheless - I'm unplugging from the computer so I can fully enjoy the three-day weekend with my family. Talk to y'all on Monday!

I am dying for one! I am going to be jealous. I have heard and seen nothing but great things about this grill. I was thinking about the x-large one, but it is not in my budget right now.
Get it. You will love it.

I went to a demonstration where they prepared food for you to sample and of course everything was good. Go for it!
my aunt and uncle have a grill that's very similar to the big green egg but a bit cheaper..they LOVE it! maybe look into similar ones with a little less hefty of a price tag?
That green egg certainly looks nice. I don't know anything about grilling on it though. I does make a nice gift.
Enjoy,
Susan
If he loves to grill then he will love it. We have a close family friend who throws parties around his big green egg. Go for the real thing, have no regrets!
OMGOSH ... Mr. G just helped a friend of his pick some up for his friend's shop and he has been talking non-stop about how great it would be to have one....xo HHL
Wow, I have never heard of the Big Green Egg before but it looks way cool! I would buy it on looks alone!!
Go for the big charcoal grill selling at Lowes right now.
Hello:
Whilst a 'Green Egg' does look great fun and would certainly be super generous, in an English summer it would never be in action.
Why not have his portrait painted? We do realise it would be no good to grill on it!!
As new Followers we look forward to many happy returns.
We have the big ol' gas grill. Guess we are still in the dark ages!
That is such a sweet gift! I love it. And what an adorbs wife you are to be thinking of him.

I didn't realise there was a drink called Rosemary's Baby! How amazing! have not had experience with the egg but they always look soo cool!
How would he take to a case of Scotch? Bespoke blazer?
Thanks to everyone for the helpful input and suggestions. The Big Green Egg liklye isn't in our future anytime soon, but was just curious if folks thought it was worth investing in. For now, the gas grill is doing just fine. Although, there's nothing like the smell of charcoal, is there?
Jane and Lance, not sure my hubby is the type of guy who would like a self portrait, but he would love one of our kids. Food for thought - thanks!
Yankee, Scotch isn't a bad idea, although perhaps some Pappy Van Winkle bourbon may be more up his alley. Or, one of the obscure microbrews that he's such a fan of.
I was just talking to a friend of mine about their big green egg. They love it except that it does take a long time to heat up.
Another blogger just posted about the Big Green Egg! Wish I could remmeber who? Sounds like a fabulous birthday present!
