Kindergarten Countdown

Last week I took my daughter to purchase her uniform for kindergarten. It’s hard to believe that she’s already reaching this milestone. In just a month she’ll be attending a new school, meeting new friends and facing new challenges. Above is a photo that I took in the dressing room, as she strikes a pose for the camera. As you can see, Little Guy wanted to jump in the shot too - Sissy can't have ALL of the attention!

Later this week, we’ll join family in the mountains for a last getaway before the hustle and bustle of a new school year begins. I’m hoping that the mountain air will be somewhat cooler than what we’ve been enduring in this valley. The heat has been stifling to say the least.

Hope everyone had a great weekend and that your ready to face the new week. Personally, I need a little more coffee.

P.S. – Any suggestions on where to get backpacks for school? I used to order mine from L.L. Bean for high school and college, but do you think the ones are Target are just as durable (and affordable)?

I bought my niece and nephew a backpack and lunchbox for Christmas a few years ago. (monogrammed, of course!) They used those things for several years. I personally like them better than the Target ones. Little girls look so cute in uniforms!!! :)

Looks like we are in the same boat. My little guy is starting full-day kindergarten in September and then poor mommy will be all alone in this house all day! (I get butterflies in my stomach every time I think about it-LOL!) I have always gotten my daughter's backpacks and lunchbox from the Gap but this year I am also going to check out a company called Frecklebox, they have personalized lunchboxes, thought it would be kind of cute!

I get the backpacks, etc. for Les Petits from Target. Last year's are still in very good shape.

OK..with that saucy look and pose we can see she is going to be charming them off their feet over the next several years.

You can't go wrong with Bean. Both my boys carried their Bean bookbags through middle school and high school respectively. Little carried hers from kindergarten through 5th grade, and it would probably take her through middle school as well, but she's ready for a new "look," which means a messenger bag. And, once again, we'll get a monogrammed style from LLBean.

Wow that photos brings back a flood of memories! Sigh.... You know what Catholic schoolgirls never say to each other? " What are you wearing tomorrow?"

Oh, your darling girl looks adorable in her uniform! Congrats to both of you on this huge step!

Oh, and I'm going to ditto the majority - love L.L. Bean monogrammed backpacks!

What a doll. Target for sure, and let her pick out her own.

Love the pose ~ too cute! I'm not ready to start thinking about back to school just yet. I have a few more projects before I'm ready to start setting up my classroom.

I always bought monogrammed backpacks from Land End for my son. They are very well made and stand the test of time.
I've noticed that many of my students have to replace their backpacks halfway through the year when they aren't quality made.

Your daughter is so pretty; those eyes! I love a uniform (great plaid, by the way). We have a dress code (much grumbling for 8th gr. girls & skirt length), but we always wore a uniform St. Joan of Arc :) & were better for it, I believe. Re the backpacks, we go with Bean.
Best,
Colleen
